Mradi wa kuimarisha maisha ya watoto na vijana wenye ulemavu katika Milima ya Usambara- katika kipindi cha Covid-19 yamefanyika mambo mbalimbali ikiwemo utoaji elimu juu ya namna ya kujikinga na ugonjwa huu. Maeneo hayo ya mradi ni katika baadhi ya kata na vijiji wilayani ya Lushoto, Halmashauri ya Bumbuli na wilaya ya Mkinga. Hii ikiwa ni pamoja na ofisi za serikali za mitaa, mashuleni, nyumba za ibada (makanisani na misikitini).



Mradi huo katika wilaya ya Lushoto umezifikia jumla ya familia 454 zenye watoto wenye ulemavu. Kila familia ilipokea barakoa , chupa 6 za sabuni za kunawia mikono, chupa 6 za vitakasa mikono (Sanitaizer) na unga 20kg. Elimu imetolewa juu ya matumizi sahihi ya barakoa  kwa kuzingatia miongozo ya wizara ya afya, namna bora ya kutumia vitakasa mikono  na matumizi ya sabuni kwenye  kunawa mikono.



Baadhi ya Shule zilizotembelewa na mradi ni pamoja na shule ya msingi Lwandai, shule ya msingi Kitopeni, shule ya sekondari Shambalai, pamoja na shule ya msingi Mbula. Katika maeneo ambayo mradi huu ulitoa unga kwa familia zenye watoto wenye ulemavu ni pamoja na Halmashauri ya Lushoto katika vijiji vya Shume,Viti, Hengiti,Manolo,Mavumo,Madala,Gologolo,Mlifu,Ngwelo,Mlalo,Tewe,Lunguza,Mnazi,Mng’aro,Soni,Ubiri, na Magamba. Katika halmashauri ya Bumbuli vijiji vifuatavyo walipokea unga kama ifuatavyo ni pamoja na,Kwanguruwe,NgweloB,Kisiwani,Bumbuli,Mbalalu,Tamota,Kwausolo,Mkalie,Ngoloi,Mahezangulu,Msamaka,Kwehangala,Tuliani,Kicheba,Zila,Mbokoi na Dule.Halmashauri ya Mkinga: Ni Duga Maforoni, Sigaya, Mail8, Horohoro,Kilulu,Mwakijembe na Mwakikonge, pamoja  na Chekelei iliyopo katika Halmashauri ya Korogwe.


RESPONDING TO COVID-19: Education and Information on covid-19 among families of disabled  children and youth. During this time of the pandemic , North Eastern Diocese’s Project for Strengthening Livelihood for Children and Youth with disabilities in the Usambara Mountains participated in various activities in several wards and villages in Lushoto District, Bumbuli Council and Mkinga District.The project team  raised awareness among the communities and schools in the project areas by educating people on hand washing and hygiene,  and  wearing of masks.  They also managed to distribute liquid soap, hand sanitizers, masks  and food to 454 families of children and youth with disabilities in the villages.
